ADELE PRANDINI

PHOTOGRAPHER

Nature Lover

Adele Prandini Photographer

I'm a nature lover who also has a deep appreciation of photography.  I have always loved the ocean and marine mammals but only recently came to grow my affinity for birds. The more time I spend in their presence, the more I realize all they do for us.

Why I do What I do

Whether I'm walking along the coast listening to breaking waves or walking along a path listening to bird song, I am so taken by how wonderful our world is. All life, no matter what form it takes, is precious. There is beauty in all. There is knowledge in all. There is consciousness in all, whether it walks, swims, or just is.

My hope is that my photography strengthens my connection to the creatures I meet and gives me a greater understanding of their life circumstances so that I can live a more harmonious life.

Ways We Can Help

You might already know that we are in the midst of a sixth great extinction. Much of the natural world is disappearing at an alarming rate. Even small changes can make a huge difference in the health, wellbeing, and future of our planet. Not just in far away places but outside your door.

See what is going on in your neck of the woods. Then check out local groups already working in your area. Here are a few projects that are near and dear to my blue-green heart:

Mission Blue An organization headed up by the incredible Dr. Sylvia Earle who along with her team is working to establish "Hope Spots" all over the globe in an effort to safeguard vital ecosystems.

California Academy of Sciences  Conservation rooted in science - social justice and community.

The Marine Mammal Center They do rescue, rehabilitation, release and so much more.

The Pacifica Beach Coalition  A volunteer organization dedicated to protecting the beaches, wildlife, creeks and trails in the Pacifica area. Go to their website to see all the wonderful things they do!

Citizen Science Apps to help protect nature and keep us informed:

  • iNaturalist a citizen science app to help you connect with nature, for that naturalist in you.

  • Happy Whale is a whale tracking website that identifies individual whales by photos uploaded by users. It posts stories and information that enables users to track whales over time.

  • BirdNote is a website full of information regarding our feathered friends. How to identify them by the songs they sing, when to see them, where to see them and much more.

  • Cornell Lab of Ornithology  The place to go for bird identification - conservation - ongoing education -

  • Birdnet an app to help you identify birds by sound.

  • Feeder Watch  For those with backyard feeders and an interest in citizen science.

  • Merlin Identification  Merlin ID an app to help you identify birds but also sounds, live cams and so much more.
